Funding from CLS

The CLS provides language faculty and graduate students with financial assistance in their academic endeavors.  Each year, we offer a number of Instructional Innovation Grants (IIGs) to facilitate faculty projects relating to teaching innovation.  In addition to providing financial and technical support for these projects, the CLS affords grantees an opportunity to present their project results at the CLS Spring Seminar Series.

The CLS also issues travel grants to faculty for all or part of the cost of attending workshops, seminars, conferences, and for other trips for the purpose of professional development or research in the teaching of foreign languages.  Yale graduate and professional students may request funds from the CLS for costs of participation in special activities directly related to the improvement of the teaching of foreign languages and curriculum development.  Requests for funding to attend language courses or language training/tutoring will not be funded.
