Digitizing Materials for Web Delivery

Audio

Audio materials to be posted on the CLS's Digital Audio Website will be digitized by the CLS upon submission of a Service Request form. Digitizing of audio is limited to transferring the entirety of the original submission. For assistance in learning how to edit your material, contact us directly.

In addition, iMacs with Apple’s iMovie software are available in the CLS Faculty Development Lab for language faculty interested in digitizing and editing their own audio. Instruction on this process is available from technology support staff.

Video

Web-based distribution of films and other full-length videos may soon be done through Yale's ShareStream project. Instructors interested in distributing video in this manner may contact any member of the Technology and Project Development staff for more information. Note: This project is in pilot phase during Fall 2009.

In addition, computer stations are available in the CLS Faculty Development Lab (room B06) for language faculty interested in digitizing and editing their own video. Instruction on this process is available from technology support staff.

About Copyright

If you submit materials to be digitized and you neither have a copyright permission note nor own the copyright yourself, you will have to wait until permission is obtained before the materials can be hosted on CLS web servers.

For more information about Copyright and Fair Use, consult Section III of the CLS Copyright Handbook.
