Language Study at Yale

Overview

Yale University affirms the importance of the study of foreign language and culture by offering an extraordinary array of courses in more than fifty languages. Undergraduate, graduate, and professional school students can benefit from the incorporation of language learning into their educational experiences, and the university encourages and supports students in this endeavor. Yale offers undergraduate majors and graduate-level degree programs in a large number of language and literature programs, though equally emphasized are opportunities for students pursuing other specializations who wish to benefit from linguistic and cultural fluency as they prepare to participate in, and ultimately shape, our increasingly internationalized society.
